Absolute Interpreting and Translations Ltd (Absolute) is committed to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2050.
As part of this commitment we are actively working to track and reduce our emissions over time. Below we have produced a summary of our emissions by scope, which we will use to inform our environmental management going forward. All emissions reported and future plans include the entities under Absolute’s financial control (UK Software Ltd).
Baseline Emissions Footprint
Baseline emissions are a record of the greenhouse gases that have been produced in the past and were produced prior to the introduction of any strategies to reduce emissions. Baseline emissions are the reference point against which emissions reduction can be measured.

Emissions reduction targets
In order to continue our progress to achieving Net Zero, we have adopted the following carbon reduction targets.
- Reduction in scope 1 emissions by 100% through new estate. We have adopted an electricity-only model.
- Reduction in scope 2 efficiency by 76% through the adoption of a carbon 0 tariff (76% renewable, 24% nuclear) and exploration of more efficient energy supply, e.g. solar panels.
- Reduction in scope 3 emissions by 21.6% through a reduction in business travel.
We project that carbon emissions will decrease over the next five years to 6.05 tCO2e by 2029. This is a reduction of 64.11%

Carbon Reduction Projects
Completed Carbon Reduction Initiatives
The following environmental management measures and projects have been completed or implemented since the 2022 baseline. The carbon emission reduction achieved by these schemes equates to 0.26 tCO2e, a 1.7% reduction against the 2022 baseline and the measures will be in effect when performing the contract
- Migration to a gas-free model at our new head office (07/12/2023)
- Implementation of our single use plastics ban.
- Reduction of paper usage by 89.7% through our electronic timesheets.
In the future, we hope to implement further measures such as:
- Exploration of sustainable energy supply options, in particular solar panel installation at 34-35 Ludgate Hill, B3 1EH.
- Measures to reduce business travel:
- Increase in remote interpreting capacity and marketing.
- Incentivisation of public transport and cycling within the workforce.
Declaration and Sign-off
This Carbon Reduction Plan has been completed in accordance with PPN 06/21 and associated guidance and reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans.
Emissions have been reported and recorded in accordance with the published reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans and the GHG Reporting Protocol corporate standard[1] and use the appropriate Government emission conversion factors for greenhouse gas company reporting[2].
Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions have been reported in accordance with SECR requirements, and the required subset of Scope 3 emissions have been reported in accordance with the published reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans and the Corporate Value Chain (Scope 3) Standard[3].
This Carbon Reduction Plan has been reviewed and signed off by the board of directors (or equivalent management body).
