Commitment to Achieving Net Zero

Absolute Interpreting & Translations Ltd (“Absolute”) is committed to achieving Net Zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, in line with UK Government policy and PPN 06/21.

As part of this commitment, Absolute actively measures, monitors and reduces its carbon emissions year-on-year. This Carbon Reduction Plan covers all entities under Absolute’s financial control, including UK Software Ltd, and reflects how sustainability is embedded into our interpreting, translation and digital service delivery.

The environmental management measures set out in this Plan are fully embedded in Absolute’s day-to-day operations and are directly applicable to the delivery of public sector contracts.

Emissions Reduction Targets

To support delivery of Net Zero by 2050, Absolute has adopted the following measurable reduction targets:

  • 100% reduction in Scope 1 emissions through migration to a gas-free, electricity-only estate
  • 76% reduction in Scope 2 emissions intensity through adoption of a carbon-zero electricity tariff (76% renewable / 24% nuclear)
  • 21.6% reduction in Scope 3 emissions through sustained reduction in business travel

Based on these measures, Absolute projects total emissions will reduce to 6.05 tCO₂e by 2029, representing a 64.11% reduction against the 2022 baseline.

(Progress against these targets is reviewed annually and tracked internally.)

Carbon Reduction Projects

Completed Initiatives

Since the 2022 baseline, Absolute has implemented the following measures, delivering a 1.7% reduction (0.26 tCO₂e):

  • Migration to a gas-free model at the new head office (December 2023)
  • Implementation of a single-use plastics ban
  • 89.7% reduction in paper usage through electronic timesheets and digital workflows

Planned and Ongoing Measures

  • Installation of solar panels at 34–35 Ludgate Hill, B3 1EH
